Popular summer festival is May 19 in Thornton

THORNTON, CO… Thorntonfest, a signature event of the City of Thornton, takes
place on Saturday, May 19 on the Multipurpose Fields, at 108th Avenue and
Colorado Boulevard from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Due to new park construction, all
parking will be accessed off of 108th & Colorado Boulevard.  Carpooling is
strongly encouraged.  Activities include:
*The Marketplace: featuring a craft fair that offers a great opportunity to find
that special gift. There will also be dozens of business exhibitors, service
groups and non-profits highlighting their services and products.  	*Paw Fest for
pets and pet owners, discounted pet vaccinations, a national canine Frisbee
competition, pet vendors, creature features and new this year, visit DockDogs as
they hold competitions in Big Air, Speed Retrieve and Extreme Vertical. 	*Kids
Korner: features bungee trampolines, a climbing wall, a mini-train, children's
amusements, a brand new Zip Line attraction and more.  	*Youth Sports Area: with
interactive activities, demonstrations and representatives from many of the
community's youth sports groups.  	*The Marketplace Stage will feature
performances by The Nacho Men, Phat Daddy, Delta Sonic, Jon Chandler, and 17th
Avenue Allstars.   	*Arbor Day tent: Thornton’s Forestry staff will offer help
with lawn and garden issues.  	*Mile Hi Cruisers/Colorado American Motors Club
Classic Car Show: featuring a huge display of classic cars and hot rods.  	*Life
Safety House: Kids can learn lifesaving lessons about what to do in a fire.
*Total Beverage Beer Gardens: for adults to relax and socialize while enjoying
ice cold beverages.
*Battle of the Bands: local youth bands will be showcased and compete for the
opportunity to perform at this year’s Harvest Fest.  	*American Furniture
Warehouse Cottonwood Classic 5K: May 19 at the Thorncreek Crossing Shopping
Center. The race begins at 8 a.m.
