Commerce City police are trying to piece together a shooting that might have involved a robbery at a clothing store Thursday afternoon.
One person was fatally wounded and two men fled the Joyeria Alondra boutique just before 4 p.m., said Detective Mike Saunders, who described it as a "possible" robbery attempt.
"We're not too sure of the motive yet," he said at about 5:15 p.m., about an hour after the shooting.
The wounded man, who witnesses told multiple television stations was the store owner, was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was declared dead.
"We're trying to figure out a lot of things," Saunders said.
He said the events, including the shooting, happened inside the store at 5908 E. 64th Ave. Saunders said more information about the incident would be released as investigators confirm it.
