DENVER – Education Week will honor Colorado Education Association President Kerrie Dallman and Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Cynthia Stevenson as “Leaders to Learn From” during a recognition ceremony, Thursday, April 18, in Washington D.C. at 8:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. in Colorado).

Interested media can register to listen to a free live stream of the ceremony, which will be followed by a leadership keynote conversation with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Dallman and Stevenson will be recognized for “district-union partnership” in coming together to host an employee summit in 2011, when Dallman was president of the Jefferson County Education Association. Education Week reports the summit provided a collaborative environment during a budget crisis in which “representatives from the district, the union, and other employee groups outlined budget fundamentals, agreed on areas to cut, and then carried the details into their respective bargained contracts. The accord kept employees on the rolls, minimized class-size increases, and preserved electives.”

Thursday morning’s live stream agenda and the leader profile of Dallman and Stevenson are available on Education Week website.
