Ballot boxes available at City Hall —
Westminster City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave., has ballot boxes for both Jefferson County and Adams County from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Boxes will also be available on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For information on polling places, early voting sites, voter status and ballot questions, Jefferson County voters can visit the Jefferson County election website or call the Jefferson County Clerk’s office at 303-271-8111. Adams County voters can visit the Adams County election website or call the Adams County Clerk’s office at 720-523-6500. Get additional election information.
Water, sewer rates to rise 4 percent in 2013-14 —
The City of Westminster will be increasing water and sewer rates by 4 percent in 2013 and 2014, with the average residential customer impact of an additional $2.03 per month in 2013 and $2.13 per month in 2014. This rate adjustment will fund increasing costs for operations and maintenance, and system improvements such as replacing sewer pipe, upgrading components of the water treatment plants and assisting in the protection of the city’s water supply. — Westminster residents can recycle their tree limbs and shrubs on the last Saturday of the month from March to October at the tree limb drop-off site located on the south side of Standley Lake on 88th Avenue between Kipling Street and Independence Drive...Fundraisers planned for Ridgeway family
— Kids Night Out will donate $3 of the $10 admission fee for each kid that attends on Friday, Oct. 19, from 7-10:30 p.m. at City Park Recreation Center, 10455 Sheridan Blvd. In addition, several organizations have created fundraisers for the family. — The City of Westminster will hold a free electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Westminster City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave. Reservations are required by calling 303-658-2189. Most items can be recycled for free. There will be a fee for the following: CRT monitors, $7; tube TVs 32 inches or smaller, $10; and tube TVs greater than 32 inches, $20; certificate of hard drive destruction, $7....Council authorizes annual competitions for new residential projects
— The Westminster City Council, on Oct. 8, authorized competitions in the year 2013 for new residential projects and allocated 1,100 service commitments for those competitions. As part of the city’s Growth Management Program, the city requires potential developers to compete for the ability to develop a new residential project. Developers can download an application packet from the city’s website or pick up an application packet at Westminster City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave. for any new single-family detached, single-family attached, multi-family, senior housing or traditional mixed-use neighborhood projects. The deadline for project submittals is Thursday, Nov. 29. Following city review of the competition submittals, City Council will award and set aside additional service commitments in future years to the winning projects through build-out. ...City of Westminster Events & Activities Report
Fire Station 4 hosts open house — It’s Fire Prevention Month. Westminster Fire Department will host an open house for the community from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Fire Station 4, 4580 W. 112th Ave. Meet the firefighters, see the trucks, play some games, eat some food and learn about fire safety at this fun family event....Mayor and City Council host dessert
— Westminster Mayor Nancy McNally and members of the City Council invite the public to attend a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Covenant Village, 9153 Yarrow St. The mayor and council will lead an informal question and answer session with citizens regarding issues of concern.
