City’s business services program revised

(Feb 28, 2013) The city’s Economic Development Office has revised its business services program for 2013. A new quarterly event, Westminster Tech Connect, provides a forum for Westminster technology companies to meet and exchange information. Westminster technology businesses are invited to join us on Wednesday, March 13, at 7:30 a.m. at the Hyland Hills clubhouse, 9650 Sheridan Blvd.

Two focus groups will be conducted in 2013 for manufacturers and software and IT companies to identify how to connect Westminster businesses with each other and how to help small businesses obtain contracts from the city and other entities.

The city’s business visitation program will be expanded in 2013 with the help of the Westminster Fire Department, who routinely visit businesses for safety inspections. During these visits, retail and service businesses will provide feedback about plans for expansion and the city’s business services. Many businesses will also continue to be visited by staff and City Council throughout the year.

The former annual Business Appreciation Event will be replaced in 2013 with the Business Legacy Awards. Longtime Westminster businesses will be honored by the City Council during their regular meetings throughout the year. Recipients will also be recognized in the community newsletter, City Edition.

The city will continue to provide additional services to Westminster business, including training scholarships and capital grants.

Details on the business services program are available on the city website.
