Brighton celebrates its agricultural heritage

The City of Brighton will celebrate its agricultural heritage Saturday, Aug, 18 at Brighton Market Day. The annual event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brighton Cultural Center and will include produce from local growers, an education symposium, interactive activities, live entertainment, great food, and local artists, as well as free kids activities and interactive activities which will be provided by the Anythink Library of Brighton.

Chambers Road closed beginning July 23

Beginning July 23, Chambers Road, from E. 144th Avenue to E. Bromley Lane, will be closed for construction of a box culvert across Chambers Road as part of the continuing work on the South Outfall Drainage Channel project. Only local traffic will be allowed. The closure is expected to last two weeks. The extended closure time is due to extra caution required in crossing private and City utilities and in particular the water main supplying the Indigo Trails subdivision. Detours will be marked. Sable Boulevard and S. 27th Avenue are good alternatives to use during this time. For questions concerning the construction, please contact Dennis Crock at 303-655-2035....

The Brighton City Council will host a citywide barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m. next Thursday, July 26 at the brand new Carmichael Park. Thornton Bridge at I-25 & 88th damaged in accident with two semi trucks

I-25 South at 88th Avenue will be fully back open by your morning commute Wednesday, according to CDOT. Earlier in the afternoon two semis carrying silos slammed in to the bridge (because they couldn't fit underneath it). The bridge looks pretty nasty from down below, but CDOT says it's still safe (per 9News)....
