Commerce City summer camp program keeps kids active and engaged Enrollment begins Feb. 27 for camps catering to ages 6-15

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. – Looking to give your child an unforgettable summer experience? Then experience weCAMP, Commerce City’s 2013 summer camp program to keep local youth and teens active and engaged. In addition to the traditional week-long, full-day camps for ages 5-10 and 11-15, the city is offering two new options: specialty half-day clubs for ages 6-10 and a partial-week summer camp for ages 11-15. An informational parent meeting will be held 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the recreation center, 6060 E. Parkway Drive, which also marks the official beginning of camp registration.
The full day camps are licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, and accept the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). Commerce City’s summer camps offer a high ratio of counselors to campers – a unique feature not found elsewhere. Activities are tailored to different age groups, with full-day camps and specialty clubs for ages 6-10 held at the recreation center, while camps for ages 11-15 are held at the recreation center and Second Creek Elementary School. Partial week for teens will only be offered at Second Creek Elementary.
Parent surveys noted the city’s top-notch summer camp program can’t be beat. “Everything was perfect,” said a parent of two campers. “As a parent it was so comforting to know that my children were having fun in a safe environment. I wouldn’t even consider going to another summer camp program.”
Parents are encouraged to enroll early to ensure a place for your child at camp. Enrollment packets will be available for FREE online beginning Feb. 27 at www.c3gov.com/camp. Preprinted packets will also be available for purchase from the Recreation Center or at the parent meeting for $10.
