Community invited to say final farewell to former Mile High Greyhound Park as demolition begins  FREE EVENT ALLOWS ATTENDEES TO RECORD THEIR MEMORIES OF THE PARK

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. – Commerce City will host a special community event to commemorate the past and celebrate the future as the demolition of the former Mile High Greyhound Park begins Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Following a brief ceremony, demolition work will begin, starting with the clubhouse entrance. Residents and those across the region can attend this FREE, family-friendly event to watch the demolition, record their memories of the track and learn more about redevelopment plans for the 56-acre property.

 

 WHAT:          Demolition of Mile High Greyhound Park

                        Program includes:

·         Remarks from Councilman Rene Bullock, At-Large

·         Remarks from Ward IV Councilman Rick Teter

·         Special presentation to Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver

·         City Manager Brian McBroom

 

Demolition of the clubhouse entrance will occur following the brief ceremony and continue on until the building is down. Longtime workers and residents will be available for interviews as well as elected officials and staff.

 

WHEN:          10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012

                        *Members of the media are asked to arrive no later than 10:15 a.m. for set-up.*

6200 Dahlia Street, Commerce City, Colo.

Enter the property from 62nd Avenue and Parkway Drive. Staff will direct you to appropriate parking.
