Dan Swallow appointed Chief Building Official

Dan Swallow appointed Chief Building Official

The City of Brighton is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Swallow to the position of Chief Building Official effective Oct. 1

Swallow brings to the position more than 13 years of
building inspection experience, over ten of
which have been in the chief building official
capacity. In this role with the City of Brighton,
Swallow will be responsible for all building
inspection and plan review services and activities
as well as administering and enforcing building
codes, developer agreements, zoning regulations
and other municipal regulations regarding building
matters.


Swallow has worked as a consultant for the City since 2001, providing contract
plan review through his company Swallow Inspection Services LLC. Prior to
that, Swallow served as Chief Building Official for the City of Evans from
2001 to 2011 and also Neighborhood Services Manager from 2009 to 2011.
Swallow has served as a member of the Colorado Board of Architects,
Engineers, and Land Surveyors appointed by Gov. Hickenlooper. He is also a
Certified Member and Class A Member of the International Code Council, and
a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
Swallow was the first person in Colorado to achieve a Master Code Professional
(MCP) designation by the International Code Council. This is the highest
level of certification offered by ICC. Currently, there are only 10 people
within Colorado to achieve the MCP designation.
Swallow earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of
Northern Colorado.
