JUST IN: COMMERCE CITY POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY

According to the Adams County District Attorney's Office, a Commerce City Police Officer has been charged with a felony count of animal cruelty in the much-publicized shooting of a Commerce City dog in weeks past. Allegedly, and as apparently demonstrated through a home video, the police officer shot a dog while it was in the garage of a homeowner after having tazed the dog. The DA's release is attached.

Fatal Commerce City Accident

COMMERCE CITY ― Shortly before 5am today, officers from the Commerce City Police Department responded to an injury accident in the 6300 block of Brighton Blvd. A male pedestrian was walking northbound in the southbound travel lane of Brighton Blvd. A pickup truck driving southbound in the same lane struck the pedestrian The male sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he died. His identity has not been released pending notification of family. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this case. Brighton Blvd was closed between E 64th Ave and E 60th Ave for approximately three hours while officers investigated the accident. There are no further details at this time....

Brighton Police Department Update

Brighton Police Officers have been busy training during the month of October. All police officers have attended 14 hours of Koga Arrest Control, four hours of Emergency Vehicle Operations, one hour of Personal Protective Equipment, five hours of less lethal weapons and five hours of nighttime shooting....
