3 people indicted in an alleged scheme to launder drug money through a Commerce City car dealership 20 vehicles seized at Chopeque Auto Sales -- A Denver Channel Story

DENVER - A federal grand jury has indicted three people accused of helping launder drug money through a Commerce City auto dealership. Raul Mendoza, 48, and Julia Castillo-Caraveo, 28, both of Denver, and Isidro Noe Mendoza-Ortiz, 25, of Thornton, were arrested by federal agents Tuesday on charges of money laundering and "structuring" currency -- depositing just under $10,000 during transactions to evade reporting laws, said Jeff Dorschner, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for Colorado. Thornton Shooting Update

***UPDATE 02-25-13*** The victim in this incident is still being medically treated for the injuries sustained during the shooting. Clarification was made that the victim is a 45 year old male. The male that was placed into custody was identified as 38 year old Mario Oliveros out of Denver. He was arrested without incident in the 9100 block of Gale Boulevard and has since been taken to the Adams County Detention Facility. Investigators will file charges with the Adams County District Attorney’s Office later this week. Thornton Shooting with critical injuries

On February 24, 2013 at approximately 1:30 AM, Thornton Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance where shots were fired at Chamucos Bar located in the 8600 block of Washington Street. Officers found a 40 year old male at that location that sustained a gunshot wound. The male was transported to the hospital for medical treatment for serious injuries....

Former Eagle Ridge Academy executive director Robert Hughes has been charged with theft and embezzlement, accused of stealing almost $20,000 from a federal grant intended for the Brighton charter school. According to an arrest affidavit, the startup grant was to be used to purchase about 350 Netbook computers for students as well as software and other program materials. Commerce City police find missing 14-year-old boy --- Denver Post Article

Commerce City Police have found a 14-year-old boy who had been missing since Monday night. Christian Rasmussen, spokesman for Commerce City Police, said the boy was spotted at a gas station near Interstate 76 and 88th Avenue by a driver who called police. Commerce City 'Missing Person' found Alive

The Commerce City resident who was missing in the last 48 hours has been found alive. The Commerce City Police Department received a report from a citizen of a male in the area of the 10700 block of Chambers Dr. The Denver Police helicopter was in the area assisting with the search, and was able to locate Sanders in a field west of Chambers Dr. Officers and medical personal were able to make contact with the individual who was then transported to a local hospital for treatment related to exposure to the cold. No additional information is available at this time. ...
