Brighton Police Weekly Update

On Saturday, Dec.1 at 3:38 a.m., Brighton officers were dispatched to a stabbing victim who was dropped off at Platte Valley Medical Center. The victim was stabbed once in his left mid flank.

The knife blade perforated his bowel. The victim
was able to tell officers the suspect’s name, but unable to provide the exact
location of the assault. He was transported by ambulance to Denver Health
Medical Center. Officers located the crime scene and made an arrest within 43
minutes of being dispatched. The assault occurred in the 300 block of North 8th
Avenue. The suspect was booked in to Adams County Detention Facility on first
degree assault.

 On Monday, Dec. 3, eight patrol officers interviewed to fill upcoming vacancies
in the Investigations Unit. Corporal Portillo and Officer Moore came out as the
top two candidates and will be transferred to Investigations in January.

 Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser - Officer Underwood is raising money for police
officers who have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Every day since Hurricane
Sandy hit the east coast, police officers and emergency responders have
been working to protect the citizens and their property. Unfortunately, while the
officers are serving their communities their families are left to pick up the pieces.
Brighton Police Officers and the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation’s Disaster
Relief Fund are raising money to help the officers who were left homeless by
Hurricane Sandy. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to police officers recovering
from Hurricane Sandy.
