On Friday, August 31, Officer Tracy Quayle was dispatched to a burglary on August Lane. During the investigation, he interviewed neighbors and developed information about the location of a suspect.
The suspect was located in an
abandoned residence where he had been living. The suspect was arrested and
taken to the police department where he was interviewed. At the conclusion of
the interviews, the suspect was charged with five burglaries to residences and
one trespass to a vehicle. The suspect also has several cases still under investigation
for pawning stolen items.
On Saturday, September 1, Officer Matt McMillian was dispatched to American
Family Insurance located at 467 South 4th Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic
accident. The building had been struck with such force that it was separated from
the foundation. The damage was estimated at $50,000 to $100,000. When the
investigation was completed, Officer McMillian located and issued the driver a
summons for leaving the scene of an accident.
On Sunday, September 2, patrol officers began their new shifts. Patrol officers
work a four-month shift called a rotation. Each year officers can change shifts
three times. Officers can work either Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday
through Saturday. The fall rotation will last until January 5, 2013.
