Family Programs Explore Wild Turkeys, Wintering Birds BRIGHTON, Colo.
– Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory will host two fun, educational programs at its Old Stone House Environmental Learning Center for families to learn about Wild Turkeys and wintering birds. Bird Walk/Turkey Talk – 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 18; and 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 21
Families will find out why Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey our national bird and learn other fun facts about turkeys. We'll do turkey trivia, talk about turkey behavior and adaptations, and learn how to identify a turkey. Register by Nov. 16 for both sessions of this program. What Birds Wear in Winter – 10 a.m. - noon on Dec. 15; and 2-4 p.m. on Dec. 16 Families will learn how to identify birds that winter in Colorado, discover how birds survive in winter, enjoy a half-mile hike near Barr Lake and make feeders to attract birds to their yards. Plus, we'll have hot drinks and festive snacks! Register by Dec. 14 for both sessions of this program. All programs will be held at RMBO’s Old Stone House Environmental Learning Center, 14500 Lark Bunting Lane in Brighton, Colo. Cost is $5 per family plus $7 per vehicle entrance fee to Barr Lake State Park.
