Commerce City Girl Scout, firefighters to deliver cookies to veterans

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. – A local girl scout and firefighters from the South Adams County volunteer fire department will deliver more than 100 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the Colorado State Veterans Home in Aurora on Saturday as part of a challenge to see how many cookies could be donated to veterans. The contest started when Isabella Heinmiller, a member of Girl Scout 3406 and a fourth-grade student at Turnberry Elementary in Commerce City, went to her local South Adams County fire station to sell Girl Scout cookies. There, one firefighter offered to buy six cases of cookies (72 boxes of cookies) and have them donated back to the veterans home. The donation spurred a challenge to see how many boxes of cookies could be purchased and donated for veterans. Working together, Isabella and SACFD firefighters now have 111 boxes of cookies for delivery.
