Almost Home and United Airlines Fly Children to the North Pole

Brighton, CO – For the sixth year in a row, Almost Home participated in United Airlines’ Santa Fantasy Flight. On Saturday, December 8, Almost Home took nine children from Hughes Station and South Elementary to Denver International Airport for a flight to the North Pole.

The children began their day watching movies and singing Christmas Carols in a stretch limo provided by Special Times Limousine.  Once they arrived at DIA, they were greeted by United Airlines Volunteers. The children received their boarding passes, went through security, and headed to gate B38 – destined to the North Pole. Before boarding, the children were greeted by a surprise guest – Ronald McDonald.  He did magic tricks and posed for pictures.  Once on the plane, children received Happy Meals provided by McDonalds and sang Christmas Carols with the flight attendants.  After a 45 minute ride to the North Pole, the children were greeted by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and all of the elves.  Each child visited with Santa and received all of the gifts on their wish list, and more! “It was amazing to see the North Pole and how excited the kids were to meet Santa. Many of them had never been in a limo, much less on a plane.  It was such a good feeling knowing that these kids would definitely have a great Christmas this year” said Jillene Thrash, Development Coordinator for Almost Home.

Special Thanks to United Airlines, Special Times Limousine, South Elementary, and Hughes Station.
